Paraguayan Youth Launches Theological Essay on 'Batman vs Superman' in Asunción

Osvaldo Rolón Domínguez, who holds a degree in International Business from Nottingham Trent University, presented his first book, 'Deus ubique est', at the Library of Congress, proposing a theological reading of the film Batman vs Superman.

On Thursday, May 21, the book Deus ubique est by author Osvaldo Rolón Domínguez was launched in the General Collections Room of the Augusto Roa Bastos Library and Central Archive of the Congress of the Nation in Asunción. The ceremony took place as part of the 10th Meeting of Living Books.

Rolón Domínguez, born in Miami, Florida, in 2003, holds a degree in International Business from Nottingham Trent University in England. In his first essay, he proposes a theological interpretation of the film Batman vs Superman, arguing that Christian messages can be found beyond traditional religious labels. “God can be everywhere, even in a movie theater,” the author said.

The work seeks to demonstrate how elements of the Christian faith manifest in pop culture, challenging the idea that the sacred is confined to explicitly religious spaces or discourses. The event brought together academics and those interested in theology and cinema.
