Electronic Payments Grow 24% in First Four Months of 2026 in Paraguay

Data from the Bancard platform indicates a 24% increase in electronic payments in Paraguay between January and April 2026, with notable growth in debit (+32%) and a reduction in the average ticket, reflecting greater use of own funds and atomization of consumption.

Electronic payments in Paraguay recorded a 24% increase in the first four months of 2026, maintaining the growth rate above 20% observed in 2025, according to data from the Bancard platform. The advance was driven mainly by local purchases, with debit usage growing 32% compared to 13% for credit, signaling greater use of own funds by consumers.

The number of transactions increased 35% year-on-year, while the average ticket fell 9% to 117,000 guaranis. This movement indicates an atomization of consumption, with more frequent payments of lower value, now associated with everyday expenses such as food, transportation, delivery, and services, rather than just large purchases.

The expansion of the digital economy, fueled by e-commerce, mobile apps, and subscriptions, consolidates a more dynamic and continuous consumption pattern, according to the report.
