Paraguay reaches 88% coverage in measles and rubella campaign

The National Vaccination Drive against measles and rubella has achieved 88% coverage, with 420,646 children vaccinated. The goal is to exceed 95% by May 29.

The Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare reported that the National Vaccination Drive has made significant progress in the Campaign against Measles and Rubella, reaching 88% coverage nationwide. A total of 420,646 children aged 1 to 5 years received the booster dose of the MMR vaccine.

The initiative aims to close immunity gaps and prevent the reintroduction of these viruses in Paraguay. Health authorities highlighted the commitment of families and the intense work of health teams in all departments, who reinforced strategies such as mobile brigades, fixed posts, and home visits.

The Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) emphasized that each dose administered represents protection against highly contagious diseases, such as measles, which can cause serious complications in childhood.

The national campaign will continue until May 29, with the goal of reaching and exceeding 95% coverage. Families who have not yet taken their children for vaccination are advised to seek the nearest health service. The Ministry of Health thanked the efforts of vaccinators, supervisors, health personnel, local authorities, and citizens.

The Ministry of Health noted that the vaccine is safe, effective, and saves lives. To find the nearest vaccination post, families can visit www.vacunate.gov.py.
