The Paraguayan forestry sector is expanding, with growing investments and the establishment of new related industries. In this context, the Paraguayan Federation of Timber Producers (Fepama) has launched Expo Madera Paraguay 2026, an event aimed at consolidating the sector's growth and bringing together industry professionals. The fair, which will take place from September 10 to 12 at the Paraguayan Olympic Committee (COP), will feature more than 92 exhibitors.

During the launch, the president of Fepama, Diego Puente, highlighted that Paraguay has a historic opportunity to become a benchmark in the region's forest-based economy. "The world is increasingly demanding renewable materials and efficient production processes. Paraguay has exceptional conditions to meet this demand, transforming the forestry sector into a central pillar of the country's economic and sustainable development," he stated.

One of the new features of this edition is the participation of companies and organizations from Sweden, recognized as one of the world's leading forestry powers. The Swedish trade mission, coordinated by the agency Business Sweden and led by Jesper Bernhdsson, will remain in the country for a week. Shirley Zavala, general manager of Fepama, explained that the fair will be structured around three main pillars: Forests, Industry, and Market.

The event will include forums, high-level panels, business rounds, a scientific research competition, and technical demonstrations of machinery in operation. Puente emphasized that Paraguay has approximately 400,000 hectares of forest plantations, with an annual growth of about 50,000 reforested hectares. "The major current challenge is to industrialize the raw material within the national territory to conquer the most demanding global markets with added Paraguayan value," he concluded.

In recent years, interest from new companies in investing in the Paraguayan forestry sector has grown. One of the most advanced projects is Paracel, which has already begun construction of its mega-plant in the Concepción department.
