Peña and Riera Tour New Interior Ministry Facilities at Former Asunción Port Complex

President Santiago Peña and Interior Minister Enrique Riera toured the future ministry premises at the Government Workshops complex, built on the site of the former Port of Asunción. Peña highlighted that modern spaces improve the state's operational capacity and the quality of service to the public.

President Santiago Peña, accompanied by Interior Minister Enrique Riera, visited on Tuesday the facilities of the Government Workshops complex, where the new Interior Ministry offices will be located. The complex is being built on the site of the former Port of Asunción.

In a social media post, Peña stated that “it is important for the state to have adequate spaces to work. When conditions are good, results also improve, and this translates into better service for all Paraguayans.” The president added that the government continues to make progress in better equipping the Interior Ministry for the benefit of public security and well-being.

The complex consists of five towers with capacity for about 4,000 public employees. In addition to the Interior Ministry, the original project provides space for other agencies. The initiative represents a multi-million-dollar investment by the Paraguayan state, which historically spent millions of dollars per year leasing private buildings scattered across Asunción to house its ministries.
