Persecution and Shooting in Mayor Otaño Result in Death and Drug Seizure

A preventive patrol by the 19th Police Station in Mayor Otaño, in the early hours of Sunday, triggered a chase and shooting that resulted in the death of one man, the arrest of another, and the seizure of two vehicles carrying a load of marijuana. The incident occurred in the Parejha colony.

In the early hours of this Sunday, a routine patrol by the 19th Police Station of Mayor Otaño, in the Parejha colony, northeast of the department, turned into a chase with an exchange of gunfire. The action resulted in the death of one man, the detention of another, and the seizure of vehicles containing a load of marijuana.

During the patrol, officers identified three vehicles acting suspiciously. Upon noticing the police presence, the occupants attempted to flee and opened fire on the patrol car, initiating a chase that culminated in an armed confrontation.

Miguel Ángel Talavera Amarilla, 35, a native of Alto Paraná, was wounded during the shooting and taken to the Family Health Unit of Mayor Otaño, where his death was confirmed. Nazario Lencina Olivera, 34, also from Alto Paraná, specifically from the Pernambuco colony, was arrested. He has a criminal record for environmental crimes and for failure to pay child support.

The vehicles involved, a silver Nissan Frontier pickup truck, driven by Lencina Olivera, and a red Chevrolet Tracker, driven by Talavera, were seized. Inside one of the vehicles, police found a significant amount of marijuana. The official weight of the drug has not yet been released. The duty prosecutor, Mabel Martínez Medina, was informed of the case and is overseeing the investigations.
