An early-morning police operation in Mayor Otaño on Sunday resulted in a fatal shooting, an arrest, and the seizure of two vehicles carrying marijuana. Officers from Comisaría 19ª, conducting preventive patrols, spotted three vehicles acting suspiciously. When they attempted to check the occupants, the suspects opened fire and fled at high speed.

The chase ended in the Colonia Parejha area, where an exchange of gunfire occurred. One suspect, Miguel Ángel Talavera Amarilla, 35, was wounded and later died at a local hospital. The other, Nazario Lencina Olivera, 34, was arrested. Lencina Olivera has prior records for environmental crimes and failure to pay child support.

Police seized a Nissan Frontier and a Chevrolet Tracker, both containing a significant load of marijuana. The exact weight is still being verified. Preliminary information indicates one vehicle is registered to Angélica Avalos Delgado, a municipal employee in Ñacunday, and the other to a relative of hers. These details are part of the ongoing investigation led by prosecutor Mabel Martínez Medina.
