An episode of violence in the Fulgencio Yegros company, district of Quyquyhó, resulted in a man shot in the thigh and with cuts to his head and face, as well as damage to a vehicle. The complaint was filed on the night of Monday at the 10th Police Station of Quiindy, under Act No. 253/2026, by citizen Nicolás Flecha Gómez, 31 years old.
According to Flecha Gómez's report to Second Sergeant José Valdez Benítez, the incident occurred Saturday around 7:30 p.m., when he left home to buy groceries at a local store. Upon arrival, a garnet-colored Toyota Hilux pickup truck allegedly dropped off the bodyguard of Deputy Esteban Martín Samaniego, identified as Juan Pablo Martínez Ayala, 38, who, without a word, began assaulting him with punches to the face and head. When he tried to leave, he was shot in the left thigh, with an exit wound. The victim could not identify the shooter and stated he received no help from the attackers, being taken by neighbors to the District Hospital of Paraguarí.
Flecha Gómez said that security cameras at the store may help identify the shooter. He chose to report in Quiindy because he does not trust the Quyquyhó police station, which he claims is controlled by Deputy Samaniego.
Witnesses who requested anonymity reported that Deputy Samaniego also got out of the vehicle and allegedly slapped Ángel Azcona, who was filming the commotion. Azcona had his car damaged after a scrape with the bodyguard's pickup truck, but so far has not filed a complaint, only waiting for the vehicle to be repaired.
Deputy Samaniego, of the Colorado Party, has a history of complaints for assault and violence, including cases in 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023, as well as a charge of breach of trust alongside his wife, the mayor of Quyquyhó, Patricia Corvalán. Contacted, the deputy and his bodyguard did not answer calls.
