Less than a week after his escape, the alleged drug trafficker Cristian Martín Peralta Peralta, 38, known as Pachigua, was recaptured by the National Police in the early hours of this Sunday (17) in Asunción. The operation was led by Deputy Commissioner Osvaldo Caballero, of the 21st precinct of the Obrero neighborhood, and included officers from the same unit.
Peralta had escaped from the General Hospital of Luque on May 12, where he had been hospitalized since the previous day under the custody of prison officer Héctor Raúl Rojas Rolón, 44. Closed-circuit images show that the escape was aided by his partner, Marcia Soledad Samaniego Servián, 44. Rojas Rolón was arrested, charged, and is currently imprisoned in the same penitentiary complex where he worked.
According to the Director of Police of Asunción, General Inspector Commissioner Juan Agüero, the recapture occurred at a residence on 26th Proyectada and Paraguarí streets, where Peralta was temporarily staying. He had first gone to his mother's house in the same area, but she refused to receive him due to the problems this would bring to the family. Deputy Commissioner Caballero reported that the fugitive offered no resistance and, after the arrest, remained silent.
For security reasons, the recaptured individual was taken to the Urban Police base, awaiting a decision from the Ministry of Justice on the place of confinement. Peralta had been imprisoned since May 27, 2025, when he was arrested with drugs, and was awaiting oral and public trial.
