Paraguay's Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) reminded the public that temporary detours on Silvio Pettirossi Avenue, on the stretch between Elizardo Aquino and Ñu Guasu avenues, remain in effect. The intervention is necessary for the construction of the foundation heads of the future viaduct that will be part of the Las Residentas road corridor, a project aimed at improving traffic flow and reducing travel times on one of the main access routes to Asunción.
According to the MOPC, the works depend on weather conditions and should last approximately ten days. In the Asunción direction, vehicles will be diverted to the side lanes, bypassing the construction area and returning to the main road afterward. In the Luque direction, traffic will be maintained on a properly signposted lane next to the construction site.
An inspector from the Patrulla Caminera, in a statement to NPY, said that the detour plan began during the extended holiday so that drivers could become familiar with the situation. “I believe that tomorrow traffic will be smoother, as people are already aware and will seek alternative routes,” he said.
The MOPC asks drivers traveling through the Ñu Guasu Park area to reduce speed, respect signage, and follow the instructions of traffic agents on site.
