In the early hours of Saturday, a traffic accident in the Três de Fevereiro neighborhood, in J. Augusto Saldívar, left one person dead. Also in the early hours, a large fire destroyed an appliance and general merchandise store in the San Alegre neighborhood, in Guarambaré. The fire completely consumed the location and resulted in the death of one person, whose identity was not disclosed.
In contrast to the tragedies, cultural initiatives continue. A live weaving contest for the traditional Poncho Para’i of 60 Stripes — declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO — was launched to promote and preserve the handcraft technique of the garment.
