San Lorenzo and Sportivo Luqueño did not score this Sunday in Capiatá, in a match that closed the penultimate round of the Torneo Apertura. The goalless draw reflects the tension of two teams still fighting to escape the relegation zone.
The first half was dominated by San Lorenzo, who under the command of Troadio Duarte showed a more offensive posture. At 22 minutes, “Neymar” Álvarez led a counterattack down the right, entered the area and passed to Iván Torres, who finished into the net. Referee David Ojeda, however, was called by the VAR to review a foul by Luis Cáceres on “Chico” Díaz in midfield. After analyzing the monitor, the goal was disallowed and Cáceres received a yellow card for complaining.
In the second half, Sportivo Luqueño, led by Rodrigo López, improved their marking in midfield, an area that had been problematic in the first half. Gio Bogado and Comas failed to create plays, and Comas was substituted due to poor performance. The highlight for the visiting team was Víctor Quintana, who pushed forward and attempted shots from outside the area. Luqueño had six corners in the second half but could not break through the opposing defense.
The score remained unchanged, leaving the definition of survival for the last round of the championship.
