On Saturday, May 23, at 5 p.m., La Cabina Galería will be officially inaugurated, a new exhibition space located within the Casa Amarilla complex in Asunción (República de Siria esq. Teniente Delgado). The opening takes place during the 12th edition of Noche de Galerías, an event organized by the Association of Art Galleries of Paraguay (ASGAPA), which this year simultaneously mobilizes twenty art spaces in the capital. Admission is free.
The debut show, titled 'Cómplices' and subtitled 'Between glasses and brushes — 6 friends, one same feast,' brings together recent work by artists Fernando Amengual, Leticia Casati, Marcela Dioverti, and Nelson Martinesi. Under the curatorship of critic and researcher Fernando Moure and general production by David Ocampos, the exhibition uses contemporary figurative painting as a guiding thread to explore notions of agape, community, affection, and shared experiences in an intimate setting.
The launch marks the formal presentation of the management model of the Fundación Hangar, an organization created by David Ocampos to structure the local contemporary art circuit through a network of complementary programs and infrastructures. The foundation coordinates three cross-cutting projects: Casa Amarilla, conceived as a residency-studio and living space focused on community exchange; La Cabina Galería, a specific platform for exhibition and visual projection; and El Avión, a studio dedicated exclusively to training and experimentation in sculpture.
Noche de Galerías, declared of Cultural and Tourist Interest, will feature a logistics system of free buses between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m., facilitating visitor travel with the accompaniment of specialized guides and monitors trained in local art institutions.
