Paraguayan Senator Celeste Amarilla (Authentic Radical Liberal Party) said the National Congress is full of figures with the same profile as former senator Erico Galeano, convicted of money laundering and criminal association in the context of Operation A Ultranza Py. In an interview with a television station, Amarilla said there are 'other Erico Galeanos' within the political structure, especially among leaders of the Colorado Party, but she does not yet have sufficient evidence to expose them publicly.

The legislator also mentioned the late deputy Lalo Gomes, who, according to Amarilla, faced questions over alleged ties to criminal organizations and the large volume of financial resources he handled. According to Amarilla, sectors linked to that type of power will continue trying to position themselves in the country's main political spheres.

The remarks reignite debate over organized crime's influence on Paraguayan politics and campaign financing, a topic that gained momentum after Galeano's conviction and the multiple investigations opened in recent years against leaders and authorities suspected of links to illicit networks.
