The Senate of Paraguay has stated that the video of the ordinary session that was blocked on YouTube remains available on its official channels. According to the Secretary-General of the upper house, Antonio Sánchez, the institution has not yet received a formal explanation from the platform about the incident, and technical teams continue to investigate the causes.
Sánchez stated that the session's content was never inaccessible, as it can be viewed in its entirety on the Senate's institutional website and its Facebook page. The leading hypothesis for the block, according to him, is a possible copyright violation, and not an act of censorship related to the debate held during the session.
The Secretary-General mentioned that during the meeting, footage of the Paraguayan national team's goals was shown as part of a tribute presented by Senator Juan Carlos "Nano" Galaverna. This footage, belonging to the official FIFA World Cup broadcast, is protected by copyright. However, Sánchez emphasized that on previous occasions the use of similar material did not cause problems, and that there is still no official confirmation of the reason.
He also ruled out, for the time being, any indication that the block is related to offensive or racist comments against the French player Kylian Mbappé that may have occurred during the broadcast.
