The National Service for Plant and Seed Quality and Health (Senave) issued an official statement through its Directorate of Agrochemicals and Agricultural Inputs (DAG), reiterating that neither the import nor the sale of fertilizers and soil correctives (organic or inorganic materials applied to the soil to improve its properties) in reused packaging is authorized.
The measure, according to the institution, seeks to mitigate both operational and environmental risks in Paraguay's countryside. The DAG emphasized that the ban is not isolated but rather based on Senave's internal regulations and is fully aligned with the International Code of Conduct for the Use and Management of Fertilizers of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
Authorities urge importing companies and national formulators to strictly comply with the regulation to avoid sanctions and contribute to the sustainability of the country's agricultural sector.
