The Taiwanese company Master Bus is moving forward with its plan to manufacture electric buses in Paraguay after a meeting between its directors and the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Marco Riquelme. The project involves an investment of approximately US$30 million.
According to information from Paraguay's Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC), the initiative has the potential to generate between 2,000 and 2,500 formal direct jobs, in addition to having a positive impact on the local supply chain. The company is already established in the country and operates in the Taiwan Smart Technology Park, located in Minga Guazú, in the Alto Paraná department.
The company owns land in Ciudad del Este where it intends to begin assembly operations. The plans include starting production of three models of buses for urban and intercity transport. Master Bus is also considering acquiring another plot of land in Asunción to expand its operations.
Minister Riquelme emphasized that the government is promoting an industrial policy aimed at strengthening the manufacturing and assembly of electric vehicles in Paraguay.
