Paraguay's Ministry of Education and Sciences (MEC) presented the National Plan for Educational Care for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (Planatea) during the IV International Congress on Autism, held in Asunción. The plan establishes guidelines to ensure access, retention, and learning for students with ASD in the educational system, through accessible spaces and reasonable accommodations.

The implementation of Planatea was supported by Resolution No. 1829, which makes its application mandatory in public and private educational institutions throughout the country. The Director of Inclusive Education at MEC, Digna Gauto, highlighted that the plan allows identifying students with ASD and offering appropriate pedagogical support throughout their academic trajectory, with the possibility of making adjustments in the teaching process.

Planatea also provides for teacher training, aiming to consolidate accessible, egalitarian, and respectful educational spaces for individual differences. The congress, which brought together national and international experts, focused on raising awareness and training on the challenges faced by children and adolescents with ASD, their families, and educators, offering tools to improve care and quality of life for autistic people.
