TECHO Paraguay’s 2026 National Collection is seeking to raise G. 1.55 billion to assist more than 500 families facing housing vulnerability. The campaign ends this Saturday, September 5, with volunteers mobilized at 211 locations in Asunción, Central, Alto Paraná, Caaguazú, Itapúa and Concepción.
The organization estimates that about 8,400 volunteers aged 15 and older will take to the streets with the traditional collection boxes. The suggested starting contribution is G. 10,000, and donations can also be made through QR codes and the organization’s digital channels.
Under the slogan “Salir de la Tierra” (“Leaving the Ground”), the initiative aims to fund emergency homes, community infrastructure works and development projects in informal settlements throughout 2026. The goal is to improve conditions for families who still live in precarious housing and on dirt floors.
The launch took place Friday at Parque Elevado in the Perseverancia District of Asunción, where a TECHO model home will remain open to visitors until September 12. The space shows how the housing solutions developed jointly with communities are structured.
The problem also has a direct impact on health. Data from TECHO Paraguay’s institutional report “Más allá de un techo” indicate that 42% of families living in informal settlements had respiratory problems before receiving an emergency home. In 38% of cases, symptoms such as coughing and congestion were frequent.
The annual campaign is one of the organization’s main sources of funding. TECHO Paraguay has operated in the country for more than 16 years, working on housing, community infrastructure and social development. The funds raised will go toward interventions defined with the families assisted, in an effort to reduce concrete effects of inadequate housing, including exposure to humidity, dust and unsuitable ground conditions.
