QR code payments already account for 68.1% of electronic transactions in Paraguay, with 20.2 million operations in April 2026, up 61% from 2025. The technology boosts financial inclusion for micro and small businesses.
E Commerce
Despite generating 70% of employment and moving US$ 2 billion per year, only 15% of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in Paraguay have their own e-commerce channel. The national director of Entrepreneurship of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Romina Da Re, highlighted the opportunity for digitalization during the launch of the IV Expo eCommerce 2026, which takes place on May 21.
With Mother's Day approaching, Paraguayan retail is seeing strong movement, led by household appliances and boosted by demand for technology, especially TVs for the 2026 World Cup. Consumers prioritize price and financing, and e-commerce complements physical stores.
