A 46-year-old mechanic, identified as Aurelio Daniel Colman De la Cruz, was crushed to death by a long-distance bus while carrying out repairs underneath the vehicle in a workplace accident on Tuesday afternoon in San Lorenzo, Central Department.
The incident happened around 6 p.m. at a repair shop on the corner of Anochecer and Sacramento streets in the Miraflores neighborhood. Preliminary information indicates the bus was without its tires and supported by a hydraulic jack, with the brake discs resting on the equipment. The worker was at the front of the vehicle when it slipped off the support and fell onto his chest.
Co-workers tried to help him, but the weight of the bus made any rescue impossible. Death was instantaneous, with the cause diagnosed as compression chest trauma, as Telefuturo reported.
National Police officers, inspector Viviana Riveros, a forensic doctor, and crime scene investigators were at the scene, Monumental 1080 AM radio reported.
