Body Found in Paraná River Swept Away by Current Before Rescue

A male body was spotted floating in the Paraná River near Domingo Martínez de Irala, Alto Paraná, but strong currents dragged it into deeper water before authorities could recover it, according to police reports.

Police in Alto Paraná were alerted Thursday evening by fishermen who spotted a body floating in a calm section of the Paraná River, about 70 meters from the shore, according to a report from Ultima Hora. Officers from Subcomisaría 38ª in the Lomas Valentinas colony responded and confirmed the body was that of a man, wearing black jeans and no shirt.

The officers reported that there was no cell phone signal at the scene, forcing them to walk approximately 600 meters to call for assistance from the Eastern Naval Area. When they returned, a strong current had carried the body into deeper water, preventing recovery or identification.

The discovery was reported to district prosecutor María del Carmen Meza of Iruña, who was later notified that the body had disappeared. The incident occurred in the southern zone of Alto Paraná, in the district of Domingo Martínez de Irala.
