Man detained in Asunción suspected of stealing vehicle emblems

César Adrián Medina, 31, was arrested by the National Police in downtown Asunción after a report of theft of car emblems. Four Toyota logos and two table knives, allegedly used to remove the accessories, were found with him. Police are investigating the origin of the objects and possible receiving of stolen goods.

The National Police arrested on the afternoon of Monday, May 18, César Adrián Medina, 31, suspected of stealing emblems from vehicles parked in downtown Asunción. The arrest occurred on Paraguarí Street, after a report via the 911 system that a man was removing car accessories on México Street.

With Medina, officers from the 3rd Police Station found a bag containing four original Toyota brand logos and two table knives. The knives were used to loosen the emblems and also to attempt to remove rearview mirrors. The suspect, who resides in the San Antonio neighborhood, has prior records for theft (2025) and aggravated theft (2023).

So far, only one victim has filed a formal complaint, but police estimate that at least four cars were targeted in the same area. The case will be forwarded to the Public Prosecutor's Office. According to police investigators, there is information that the emblems were being resold for recycling in the Chacarita area, where there are indications of receiving such items.
