A robbery with hostage-taking in the early hours of Saturday (16) in Katueté, department of Canindeyú, left the community in shock. According to preliminary information, several heavily armed men invaded a residence, subdued all family members, and held them under threat during the robbery.
The criminals acted with extreme violence and intimidation, forcing the victims to hand over cash and provide access to banking apps. Taking advantage of the situation, they carried out multiple electronic transfers before fleeing.
After the crime, the suspects left the scene in a vehicle whose description is already with investigators. National Police agents set up an operation in the region, with roadblocks on highways and secondary roads, in an attempt to locate the assailants.
Fortunately, none of the hostages suffered serious injuries, although several people were in shock. Authorities collected testimony from the victims and gathered evidence that may help identify those responsible.
Police do not rule out that the crime was planned with prior information about the family's financial activity.
