School winter break in Paraguay in 2026 begins on Monday, July 13, and runs through Friday, July 24, under Resolution No. 2065, signed by the Ministry of Education and Sciences on December 17, 2025. The school calendar will not be changed, despite initial speculation that the break could be adjusted because of the 2026 World Cup.
The possibility of a change was considered by Education Minister Luis Ramírez, who last year expressed the intention of studying a realignment of the break to coincide with the early stages of the World Cup. However, after analyzing the tournament schedule and the time difference with the United States, the Ministry of Education concluded that it was not necessary to modify the calendar, since the Paraguay national team's group stage matches took place at night and in the early morning hours, without interfering with in-person classes or work schedules.
Although classes will proceed normally during the group stage and the round of 18 and quarterfinals — between June 28 and July 11 — the decisive stages of the World Cup will coincide precisely with the school break. If the National Team advances, students will follow the semifinals (Tuesday, July 14, and Wednesday, July 15), the third-place match (Saturday, July 18), and the grand final in New York (Sunday, July 19) already in the middle of winter break.
