Businessman Christian Chena and attorney Alejandra Peralta de Merlo have formally filed charges against Venezuelan national Yecika Magle Bracho Atacho, identified as one of the operators behind the "Despierta Paraguay" page. They are demanding the case proceed to trial and seeking G. 800 million in compensation for a systematic, funded campaign of attacks on digital platforms.
Court documents confirmed Bracho Atacho was the registered owner of the phone number linked to the Facebook profile and website of "Despierta Paraguay," with an address in Asunción. The same location housed the advertising agency Azafrán SA and the law office of Margarita Heralesky, who previously represented Gisele Mousques in a censorship attempt against Chena.
The complaint details that, between November 2024 and May 2025, the defendant allegedly used anonymity and paid advertisements to defame Chena—falsely labeling him as "corrupt and abusive"—while attacking his lawyer, Peralta, with accusations of corruption and extramarital affairs. The Court of Appeals in Criminal Matters has already rejected defense appeals, but prosecutors are still awaiting a ruling on an unconstitutionality motion regarding the case's progress.
Meanwhile, critical media outlets like the news portal Resumen de Noticias (RDN) and Bruno Masi Online faced coordinated cyberattacks. Chena, owner of RDN, linked the attacks to reports exposing the "Despierta PY" network and investigations into Ambassador Darío Filártiga, the husband of Gisele Mousques. Other targets included Canal E and the social media account of opposition Senator Celeste Amarilla.
