This Sunday, July 26th, a new edition of "Casco Abierto" (Open Helm) will take place, an architectural tour through the city of Areguá in the Central Department. The activity invites the public to explore eight historic mansions, learning about their architecture and the memories they hold.
Architect Laurie Alice Vera Jiménez, author of the book "Architectural Heritage and Memory of the Historic Center of Areguá," will be the tour guide. She will share accounts of the historical significance of each property, promoting an experience of heritage education and reflection on the importance of conserving these cultural assets.
The initiative is organized by the Comisión Pobladores por el Casco Histórico de Areguá (Residents' Commission for the Historic Center of Areguá), a group of citizens committed to the protection and appreciation of the local architectural heritage. The event also seeks to strengthen the bond between the community and its cultural heritage, creating a space for residents and visitors to understand the city's identity through its historic buildings.
