The 26th edition of Constructecnia, the international fair of construction equipment, machinery, and materials, will be held from May 21 to 24 at the Conmebol Convention Center in Luque. For the first time, the event takes place at the stadium of the South American Football Confederation, after more than two decades in other venues in Asunción.
According to the organizers, the fair brings together approximately 900 brands and more than 200 companies, distributed across about 300 booths. The expectation is to surpass the attendance of the previous year and expand business opportunities among suppliers, construction companies, developers, and industry professionals. Over its editions, Constructecnia has accumulated around 700,000 visitors.
The program includes panels on public works financing, energy, social housing, and mining. On May 21 at 4:00 p.m., the panel “Women Who Build: Breaking Molds, Building Realities” will take place, featuring former Tourism Minister Angie Duarte; the president of the Financial Development Agency, Stella Marys Guillén; architect María Luz Cubilla, vice president of the Pan-American Federation of Architects; and architects Paola Moure and Violeta Pérez.
On the same day at 6:00 p.m., the Paraguayan Road Chamber (Cavialpa) promotes the conference “Infrastructure Investment in a Context of Fiscal Tightening,” with Peruvian economist Milton Von Hesse La Serna. The president of Cavialpa, Paul Sarubbi Corina, stated that the current budget for public works represents about 1.2% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), a percentage below what is necessary to sustain infrastructure growth.
At 4:30 p.m., the Chamber of Electromechanical Construction Companies (Cecoel) organizes a panel on energy and construction, with participation from President Gianmarco Felippo, representatives of the National Electricity Administration (ANDE) and Itaipu Binacional, as well as energy sector consultants.
On Friday, May 22, at 6:30 p.m., the Paraguayan Chamber of Real Estate Developers (Capadei) debates the housing deficit, real estate projects, and public policies, with the presence of the Minister of Urbanism, Housing, and Habitat, Juan Carlos Baruja, and economist Milton Von Hesse. At 8:00 p.m., the panel “Mining: Building a Productive Sector in Paraguay” analyzes the potential of the activity, with participation from former Minister of Energy and Mines of Peru, Rómulo Mucho Mamani.
The fair also offers a business round on May 22, aimed at construction companies, developers, architecture and engineering firms. Conferences on urban recovery and historical heritage include a presentation by Colombian architect Gustavo Restrepo on the transformation of Medellín and by Peruvian architect Luis Martín Bogdanovich on the recovery of Lima's historic center. The Faculty of Architecture, Design, and Art of the National University of Asunción holds project planning workshops.
