This Sunday, May 24, at 8:00 p.m., Arlequín Teatro (Antequera near Rca. de Colombia) hosts the premiere of Duendes y sueños..., poesía española de todos los tiempos. The show, combining poetry and live music, will have additional performances on Saturday, May 30, at 9:00 p.m., and Sunday, May 31, at 8:00 p.m.
The staging is part of the "Poesía" cycle, conceived in 2024 by director José Luis Ardissone with the work En las calles de la memoria, aiming to restore the spoken word by cultural figures to its place in theater. After Ardissone's death, the cycle continued in 2025 as a tribute with De norte a sur, en la palabra. Poesía de América Latina. This third edition marks the first anniversary of his passing.
The stage and lighting design, coordinated by Pablo Ardissone, seeks to transcend the traditional recital format. According to the production, the show proposes "a sensory journey where, as the script says, Spanish poetry is not spoken, but shouted or whispered from the bottom of a dry well." The stage space was designed by Alejandra Ardissone. Vocal performance is handled by Margarita Irún, José Antonio Galeano, and Kathya González, with live music and singing by Nicolás Roig González.
The script traverses the literary richness of the Iberian Peninsula, uniting diverse eras and currents. The selection includes classics from the Golden Age — Miguel de Cervantes, Pedro Calderón de la Barca, Lope de Vega, and Francisco de Quevedo — in dialogue with modern and romantic voices such as Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer, Sara Búho, Rafael de León, Concepción Arenal, Juan Ramón Jiménez, Gabriel Celaya, Rosalía de Castro, Blas de Otero, Rafael Alberti, and Federico García Lorca.
Tickets are available in advance through the Tuti platform and at the theater box office, by phone at 0992 442 152.
