The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) and the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare (MSPBS) met on Wednesday afternoon with representatives of the pharmaceutical sector to continue joint efforts to honor state commitments to suppliers. The meeting was led by Economy Minister Oscar Lovera and Health Minister María Teresa Barán, accompanied by their technical teams, at MEF headquarters in Villa Serrati.
Lovera informed sector representatives that in the first days of next week the financial instrument called “assignment of rights” will be available, a mechanism that will allow offering greater liquidity to suppliers. The minister highlighted MEF’s willingness to continue working in a coordinated manner to find alternatives to keep payments flowing, which began in April and continue in May, totaling US$ 180 million.
“It is very important to keep dialoguing and holding these meetings that allow us to understand the realities of all parties and, from there, define strategies that help us meet these commitments,” Lovera said.
Pharmaceutical sector representatives valued the government’s openness and the authorities’ willingness to advance mechanisms that allow honoring the existing debt. The meeting ended with a commitment to implement the assignment of rights tool and continue joint technical work to evaluate all available alternatives that benefit both the state and the private sector.
