The Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies (MITIC) announced that the use of Electronic Identity (EI) will soon require mandatory two-step verification via SMS. The measure affects access to state digital platforms such as Portal Paraguay, MI IPS, and Digitalia.
With the update, in addition to their password, users will need to enter a code sent to their mobile phone to validate login. This new method must be activated exclusively through the website www.paraguay.gov.py, not via the mobile app.
Even those who already use email verification will have to enable the SMS system to continue accessing services. When attempting to log in, the system may display a notice about the need to enable the method or automatically redirect the user to the “Account Security” section. In both cases, it will be necessary to follow the guided steps on the screen.
For inquiries or difficulties, MITIC maintains Line 151, with service every day from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. “With this update, the State seeks to consolidate more secure digital access, keeping pace with the growth of online procedures with higher protection standards,” the ministry emphasized.
