Argentine company Dass, a manufacturer of footwear and textile goods for global brands including Nike, Adidas, Fila, Asics, and Champion, has transferred part of its production line to Paraguay. The move involved relocating machinery from the plant that operated in Coronel Suárez, Buenos Aires province, to a new factory in the country.
Operations in Paraguay formally began in March 2026, following an estimated investment of $40 million, carried out in alliance with Brazilian firm Texcin. The local factory currently employs around 600 people.
The decision comes amid a sharp economic downturn in Argentina. According to local reports, the Coronel Suárez plant is undergoing a process of emptying linked to a steep drop in domestic consumption. The dismantling of facilities and the removal of capital goods indicate that the factory is unlikely to resume operations in the coming economic cycles, according to industry analyses.
The Coronel Suárez plant holds historical significance for the Rio de la Plata region. Built in 1976 by the Bachellian family, owners of Gatic and then official licensee of Adidas in Argentina, the site was for decades the largest industrial employment hub in its locality, at one point employing thousands of workers. That role is now dissolving with the migration of operations to Paraguay.
