Brazilian group Dass, one of the largest manufacturers of footwear and apparel for global brands such as Nike, Adidas, Fila, Umbro, and Asics, confirmed an investment of approximately US$40 million to set up a new plant in Mariano Roque Alonso, in the metropolitan area of Asunción. The operation will be under the maquila regime, which offers tax incentives for exports.

Paraguay's Minister of Industry and Commerce, Marco Riquelme, said the company already operates in the country and the new unit will be dedicated to producing apparel for international sports brands. “With this, Paraguay diversifies its industrial profile, adding global brands and opening more export opportunities,” Riquelme said.

The Dass Group employs more than 27,000 people worldwide and currently generates about 600 jobs in Paraguay. The minister also denied rumors that the company would close its factory in Misiones (Argentina) to move to Paraguay, highlighting that the country attracts investments due to its competitive advantages and macroeconomic stability.
