The prices of asado cuts in Paraguay have practically tripled since 2010, while the minimum wage has barely doubled over the same period, highlighting a significant loss of purchasing power for Paraguayan families.
Costanera de Asunción
Pytagua coverage mentioning Costanera de Asunción.
About 230 volunteers, including diplomats, students, and Taiwanese residents, cleaned the Costanera of Asunción this Sunday. The environmental event coincided with Taipei's global appeal for participation in the World Health Assembly, blocked by China.
The Embassy of Taiwan, together with the Taiwanese community and students from the Taiwan-Paraguay Polytechnic University, promoted a cleanup day on Asunción's Costanera to raise awareness about environmental care and reinforce the request for Taiwan's participation in international forums.
Under the motto 'Let's Clean Our Costanera', the Taiwan Embassy and the Asunción City Hall organized a large cleanup drive along the Paraguayan capital's waterfront. The action, which involved volunteers and local entities, highlighted the severe pollution of the Mburicaó, Antequera, and Las Mercedes creeks, which dump tons of garbage and sewage into Asunción Bay. Experts point out that without basic sanitation and enforcement, such drives are merely palliative.
