The Ceiba chodatii, an emblematic tree of the Paraguayan Chaco, gains a rare specimen with yellow flowers in Parque Rodó, Montevideo. Amateur botanist Antonio Schinca documents the reproductive difficulties of the specimen, which blooms in the austral winter and suffers from a lack of pollinators. The tree, known as samu'u, is also used in the Chaco to make canoes that transport children to school during floods.
