CARAPEGUÁ. A vibrant lineup of artists, dancers, and musicians filled the esplanade of the Catedral Inmaculada Concepción de María last night for the traditional “Festival de la Madre,” a cultural event organized to honor Mother’s Day. The festival featured performers from local, departmental, and national levels, presenting Paraguayan music and dance to a grateful audience.
The celebration also included raffles and gift giveaways for mothers in attendance. The event was part of the broader festivities marking Carapeguá’s 301st founding anniversary and the 215th anniversary of Paraguay’s independence.
The evening opened with students from the Escuela Municipal de Danza, directed by Professor Rosa Velázquez, who showcased choreographies prepared by Professor Angélica Alderete. Dancers from the Escuela de Danza Luz Marylen also performed a curated repertoire of Paraguayan music, drawing warm applause from the mothers who came to celebrate their day.
Former councilwoman Cirila Miranda praised the municipal administration’s annual tribute to mothers. “It is a very special date for all of us, and we appreciate this recognition,” she said emotionally.
One of the most touching moments came when children invited their mothers to dance and publicly congratulated them, reflecting displays of affection, love, and family unity that moved the crowd.
