The 20th edition of the Asunción International Book Fair (FIL) 2026 will officially open on Thursday, May 28, at 7 p.m. at the Mariscal Convention Center, located on Juan Eulogio Estigarribia Avenue, between Charles de Gaulle and Capitán Brizuela, in Asunción. Organized by the Cámara del Libro Asunción Paraguay (CLAP), the event will run for eleven consecutive days, through Sunday, June 7.
Under the slogan "More than books, a great gathering," the fair will feature over 60 exhibitors, including publishers, bookstores, distributors, and cultural institutions. The program includes book launches, lectures, debates, panels with national and international authors, and activities aimed at children and the educational sector.
The United States is this edition's guest of honor, a participation that coincides with the global celebrations of the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. "This edition is special because we are celebrating 250 years of the United States and the richness of our Paraguayan literature together," stated the CLAP organizing committee.
Admission to all exhibition halls, lectures, and cultural activities will be free throughout the event. The fair will be open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
