Paraguayan forward Isidro Pitta has been confirmed as the 26th and final player on La Albirroja's definitive squad for the 2026 World Cup, to be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Head coach Gustavo Alfaro's decision puts an end to one of the last remaining questions about the call-up and will be made official this Monday.
Pitta, a native of Caacupé, arrives at the World Cup on the back of a solid first half of the year with Bragantino. Across 28 matches played in the Brasileirão and the Copa Sudamericana, the forward tallied nine goals and five assists, establishing himself as a regular fixture in the Brazilian club's attacking unit.
His last game before the break was Bragantino's 3-1 victory over Internacional de Porto Alegre, in the 18th round of the Brasileirão, this Sunday. Pitta played 84 minutes and was a constant presence in the attack, without scoring but with decisive involvement early in the second half: inside the box, he used his physical strength, held his ground, and drew the penalty that goalkeeper Tiago Volpi converted for the team's third goal.
With the forward's inclusion, La Albirroja closes its 26-man roster for the World Cup, a tournament to which Paraguay returns after a 16-year absence. Alfaro's decision also took into account the situation of Mathías Villasanti, who ended the first half of the year without any minutes on the pitch following a recovery process at Grêmio.
