The main tourist attractions managed by Itaipú Binacional will be closed to the public from June 1 to 7. The temporary suspension of visits, announced by the entity, is due to logistical and security reasons related to the 38th Session of the International Coordinating Council of the Man and the Biosphere Programme (MAB-ICC) of Unesco, a major event that will be hosted at the hydroelectric plant's facilities and will bring together delegations from several countries.
During the seven-day interruption, guided tours to the Itaipú Hydroelectric Power Plant, the Tekotopa Environmental Center, the Tatí Yupí Natural Reserve, and the nighttime show of the traditional Monumental Illumination will be inaccessible.
Those responsible for tourism at the Binacional formally recommended that local visitors, school delegations, and international tourists reschedule their itineraries and travel plans for dates after the event.
