Itaipú Binacional, through the Itaipú Technological Park–Paraguay (PTI-PY), is carrying out a comprehensive revitalization of Ñu Guasu Park in Luque. The project, part of an urban parks improvement and sustainability plan, involves an investment exceeding G. 20.5 billion.
The works include a complete overhaul of restrooms, upgrades to circulation pathways, and the installation of new perimeter fencing to enhance visitor safety and accessibility. A modern User Service Center (CAU) is also under construction.
A key focus of the intervention is the full renovation of the playground at Entrance 2, which will feature newer, safer equipment for children. At the same time, adjustments are being made to the parking area to optimize vehicle flow and organization.
Diego Beconi, an engineer representing the Guasu Consortium, emphasized that this is an unprecedented intervention in the parks covered by the project. He noted that the installation of new lighting, benches, and trails aims to provide a more pleasant, safe, and comfortable experience for families who visit daily.
Juan Vass, an engineer from Itaipú's Coordination Directorate, explained that the works follow a sustainable management model. The goal is not only to upgrade physical infrastructure but also to ensure the long-term operational viability and maintenance of these spaces.
The new facilities will be handed over gradually as construction progresses. The project also encompasses Parque Guasu Metropolitano under the agreement titled "Master Plan, Sustainability Plan, and Improvement of the Guasu and Ñu Guasu Urban Parks," with the aim of transforming these areas into more inclusive and resilient spaces for the community of the Asunción Metropolitan Area.
