ITTI/ueno in Argentina: later employee accounts confirm layoffs, but the scale remains unclear

Named former ITTI employees now publicly say they were part of an August 2026 layoff in Argentina, strengthening the evidence behind earlier anonymous reports. ITTI has not publicly quantified the cuts in the sources Pytagua could verify, and claims of hundreds of affected positions remain unconfirmed.

ITTI/ueno in Argentina: later employee accounts confirm layoffs, but the scale remains unclear

Updated 27 September 2026. The central fact behind Pytagua's August report is now better supported: identifiable former ITTI employees have publicly said that they were affected by a layoff at the Paraguayan technology company's Argentine operation. That is stronger evidence than the anonymous developer-community accounts on which the first report largely relied.

It still does not establish the total number of jobs cut, the exact teams affected or whether the measures extended beyond Argentina. Pytagua therefore continues to treat claims of 200, 300 or more affected positions as unverified unless ITTI or another source with access to the complete employment data publishes a documented total.

What changed after the first report

In late September, former ITTI employees began describing the August event under their own names on LinkedIn. Ezequiel Dicosmo wrote that he had been affected by an ITTI layoff almost a month earlier and was again looking for work. Gustavo Javier Castillo likewise wrote that he had been part of a layoff at ITTI almost a month earlier; he described his most recent role as being in the company's artificial-intelligence and innovation vertical.

Those posts corroborate that layoffs actually occurred. They do not prove the much larger figures circulated in anonymous discussions. Glassdoor reviews posted after the event also describe a mass layoff, including one anonymous review claiming more than 300 positions were affected, but anonymous reviews are not a reliable basis for a precise total.

How the story first emerged

Pytagua's original report followed a discussion in Argentina's r/devsarg developer community on 25 and 26 August. Multiple participants identifying themselves as ITTI employees said they had been unexpectedly summoned to meetings in Buenos Aires and expected separation agreements. One participant identified himself as a software engineer working on ueno mobile; another described himself as a Tech Lead in the banking area.

Pytagua could not independently verify those Reddit identities or positions. The later named accounts do not validate every detail in the thread, but they materially strengthen its central claim that a workforce reduction took place.

ITTI had expanded aggressively in Argentina

The timing remains notable because ITTI had formally inaugurated a new Buenos Aires headquarters on 18 August 2025 as part of its regional expansion. ITTI's own announcement described a 1,499-square-metre facility designed for more than 250 employees and said 850 people formed its team in Argentina at the time.

Those numbers describe the company's expansion claim in 2025; they should not be read as a current headcount after the 2026 restructuring.

The connection to ueno

ITTI and ueno are separate legal entities but have documented business and technology links. ITTI's 2023 corporate report said its bankitti core-banking platform had been implemented at ueno bank. Paraguayan reporting has also described ITTI within the same broader business environment as Ueno Holding.

The original employee discussion matters partly because some participants said they worked on ueno-related products. The later named posts confirm ITTI layoffs, but they do not by themselves establish how many ueno teams or positions were affected.

The BNF core-banking tender remains a separate issue

ITTI is also one of the two bidders in the Banco Nacional de Fomento (BNF) procurement for a new core-banking system. The 2026 tender has a reference value of Gs. 135,853,390,375, roughly US$23 million at the exchange rates used in contemporary reporting. Public reporting through September shows the evaluation had not yet been concluded.

The tender is relevant context for ITTI's scale and banking business, but there is no evidence in the sources reviewed by Pytagua that the Argentine layoffs were caused by that procurement. The two issues should not be conflated.

The scale is still the unresolved question

The first Reddit thread contained claims that around 150 people had already been separated and that a larger percentage reduction was planned. Later anonymous Glassdoor reviews gave still larger numbers. None of those figures comes with a complete employee list, an official filing or a company statement that allows Pytagua to verify the total.

The defensible conclusion as of 27 September is therefore narrower: ITTI carried out layoffs affecting employees in Argentina in August 2026, and multiple identifiable former employees now say publicly that they were among those affected. The total number of positions, the complete organizational scope and any impact outside Argentina remain unconfirmed.

ITTI was asked for comment

Pytagua contacted ITTI on the evening of 26 August asking whether it was reducing staff in Argentina, how many positions were affected, whether other countries were included and whether the measures changed its strategy for the Buenos Aires technology hub. No response had been received when the original article was published.

In the public sources reviewed for this update, Pytagua did not find an ITTI statement that quantified the August layoffs. If the company provides a documented total or explanation, that would be the most important next update to this article.
