Asunción Mayor Inspects Storm Drainage Works in Santo Domingo Basin

Mayor Luis Bello checked the progress of storm drainage works in the Santo Domingo Basin, which have reached 30% completion with municipal funds. The intervention aims to solve historic flooding in the area.

Asunción Mayor Luis Bello inspected the storm drainage works underway in the Santo Domingo Basin on Wednesday, considered one of the most significant hydraulic interventions in progress in the Paraguayan capital. The work, financed with funds from the Municipality of Asunción, has already reached 30% completion.

During the visit, Bello listened to residents and acknowledged that projects of this scale cause temporary disruptions but represent a structural solution to a problem that has affected the region for decades. “We know that a project of this magnitude causes discomfort, so we are working to speed up timelines and provide definitive solutions to the floods that have affected this area for years, improving the quality of life for neighbors,” the mayor said.

Bello highlighted that the interventions are possible thanks to strengthened municipal revenue and the commitment of taxpayers to the city. He also spoke with the press about the city government's actions to restore financial and administrative stability, aiming to advance concrete solutions for the population.

The works are part of the municipal administration's infrastructure plan, focused on improving the drainage system, enhancing road safety, and optimizing traffic at critical points in Asunción.
