Joshua Duerksen will race for Hitech in the 2027 Formula 2 season. The Paraguayan will be the first driver announced by the British team for the championship, which will feature a new car model.

The move marks a new stage after three seasons in the series, where Duerksen made his debut in 2024. He joins Hitech with eight wins and 16 podium finishes. The team said the driver's experience will be important as the technical changes planned for 2027 take effect.

“I’m really excited to join Hitech,” Duerksen said. His goal, he said, is to keep improving and to fight for wins and strong results at every circuit.

Jan Sumann, Hitech’s Formula 2 head of race engineering, called the Paraguayan a “proven winner” and highlighted the speed and racing ability the team has followed closely.

Duerksen is also part of Mercedes’ development program. Formula 2 is a development series that serves as a pathway to Formula 1, but the announcement confirms only that he will remain in F2 and change teams in 2027; it does not establish whether he will eventually move up to the top category.
