Criminal guarantees judge Francisco Acevedo granted the Public Prosecutor's Office a four-month extension to submit its final motion in the criminal case against businesswoman Dalia López. The new deadline for concluding the investigation has been set for October 2.
López is charged with producing fraudulent documents and criminal association, accused of facilitating the acquisition of Paraguayan identity cards and passports for former footballer Ronaldinho Gaúcho and his brother. The suspect remained at large for six years before being captured.
The businesswoman is currently under house arrest with an electronic ankle monitor, a measure ordered by Acevedo following a review hearing held on May 13. She was initially detained in the Herrera neighborhood of Asunción, where she lived in a luxury residence near a Public Prosecutor's Office building.
Following her arrest, López was transferred to the Women's Judicial Department. However, due to media reports about her stay there, the judge later ordered her transfer to the Emboscada Women's Penitentiary Complex before granting house arrest.
