Neighbor Fight in Cambyretá Leaves Two Injured, One with Machete Blow to the Head

A dispute between neighbors in the La Amistad neighborhood of Cambyretá ended with two people injured on Tuesday afternoon. Fernando Emanuel Segovia Cáceres, 30, suffered a deep cut to the head with a machete, and Verónica López Sánchez, 26, was assaulted and sustained facial injuries. Three suspects have been identified, one with a criminal record.

A fight between neighbors in the La Amistad neighborhood of Cambyretá left two people injured on Tuesday afternoon. According to the police report, the confusion began after insults and threats and quickly escalated into physical aggression.

The victims are Fernando Emanuel Segovia Cáceres, 30, and Verónica López Sánchez, 26, both residents of the area. Segovia was struck on the head with a machete, suffering a cut approximately 10 centimeters long on the occipital region, as well as head trauma. López Sánchez presented head trauma and multiple abrasions on the face.

The suspects identified by police are José Andrés López Seutin, who has a prior record for aggravated robbery and domestic violence, Luis Alberto Pereira de Sousa, and Digna Martínez Benega. According to witnesses, López Seutin allegedly asked for a machete and attacked Segovia when he tried to intervene to calm things down.

Police were called via an emergency call and upon arriving at the scene found the victims with visible injuries. They were rescued by volunteer firefighters and taken to the Regional Hospital of the South in Encarnación.

The case was reported to the duty prosecutor, Néstor Alonso, and investigations continue.
