Mexico Demands US Act on 269 Pending Extradition Requests Since 2018

The Mexican government said it has submitted 269 extradition requests to the United States since 2018, none of which have been carried out. President Claudia Sheinbaum is calling for reciprocity in bilateral judicial cooperation.

The Mexican government revealed that since 2018 it has submitted 269 extradition requests to the United States, none of which have been fulfilled so far. In an official press conference, Mexican authorities detailed that dozens of requests remain unresolved, most still in administrative or judicial proceedings.

President Claudia Sheinbaum argued that judicial cooperation between the two countries must be reciprocal. The statement comes amid diplomatic tensions, with the Mexican government pressing Washington for concrete answers on the pending cases.

The data were presented as part of a review of bilateral relations, which also include security and trade issues. Sheinbaum had already raised the matter in a phone call with US President Donald Trump, but so far there has been no significant progress on extraditions.
