A Brazilian man identified as the leader of a criminal faction and his companion were expelled from Paraguay after being detained in Pedro Juan Caballero, the capital of the Amambay department. Fabio Celso Oberoli, 32, known by the nickname "Kamikaze," and Tatiana Silva Ricarte, 29, were captured on Tuesday night while driving an armored BMW pickup truck on Dr. França and José Berges streets in the Mariscal Estigarribia neighborhood.
According to intelligence information, Oberoli is identified as a high-ranking leader of the Primeiro Grupo Catarinense (PGC), also known as the Comando Catarinense, a criminal organization linked to drug trafficking that operates in southern Brazil. The expulsion of both was carried out on Wednesday at the request of the Paraguayan Public Ministry, through prosecutor Reinalda Palacios, and the two were handed over to the Brazilian Federal Police.
Oberoli has an arrest warrant issued by Brazil and a pending sentence of 21 years, 8 months, and 19 days for drug trafficking. The arrest warrant was issued by the Joinville Criminal Enforcement Court in the state of Santa Catarina in January 2025. The expulsion operation was conducted by Paraguay's National Directorate of Migration in coordination with local police authorities.
