Paraguay Guarantees Power for Mega Data Center in Partnership with Taiwan, Says ANDE President

The president of the National Electricity Administration (ANDE), Félix Sosa, assured that Paraguay has the capacity to supply the energy demand of the large‑scale data center planned under the agreement with Taiwan, starting with 10 MW and potentially reaching 100 MW. The recent regulation of the non‑conventional renewable energy law is expected to support the project.

Paraguay is in a position to become a regional hub for technological development in artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure, thanks to the alliance signed with Taiwan during the visit of President Santiago Peña, said ANDE President Félix Sosa.

In an interview on the program “Assim são as coisas” on GEN and radio Universo 970 AM/Nación Media, Sosa detailed that the project initially involves building a pilot data center of 10 megawatts (MW) to validate the technology and its operational feasibility. “Paraguay is fully capable of fulfilling the agreement, considering that initially we are talking about 10 MW. We have sufficient generation capacity and transmission and distribution infrastructure to meet this demand without any problem,” he stated.

The ANDE head added that there will also be no difficulty for the second phase, which plans to expand capacity to 100 MW with a regional focus. “We also have the conditions to supply without any inconvenience,” he said.

Sosa highlighted that the regulation of Law No. 7,599 on Non‑Conventional Renewable Energies, enacted in December 2024 and regulated by Decree No. 6,034 published the previous Tuesday, will help meet the expected demand for the data center.

Félix Sosa’s statements have not been independently verified and no additional sources were found to corroborate the information presented.
