The Paraguayan national football team has confirmed two friendlies for the upcoming FIFA window in September-October, which will be played on U.S. soil. These will be the first commitments for the Albirroja after their participation in the 2026 World Cup.
The first match will be against Bolivia on Friday, September 27, at Audi Field in Washington D.C., at 5:30 p.m. (Paraguay time). The second friendly is scheduled for Thursday, October 3, against Colombia at Sports Illustrated Stadium in New Jersey, starting at 9 p.m. (Paraguay time).
FIFA has implemented a new format for this international window, which runs from September 21 to October 6, allowing national teams to play up to four friendlies. Paraguay, however, has confirmed only two fixtures in this stage.
These matches mark the restart of the national team's activities after their notable campaign in the World Cup, where they eliminated Germany in the round of 16, winning 4-3 in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in regular and extra time. The Albirroja ended their participation in the competition after being eliminated by France in the next round.
As a recent precedent, the Albirroja drew 2-2 against both opponents during the South American Qualifiers: against Bolivia in El Alto and against Colombia in Barranquilla.
Bolivia will be led by coach Óscar Villegas, while Colombia will be under the direction of Argentine Néstor Lorenzo. The Paraguayan national team, in turn, is currently working on renewing the contract of its coach, Gustavo Alfaro.
