Paraguay's Ministry of Social Development will add 3,996 new beneficiaries to the pension program for the elderly this Friday. The information was confirmed by the Vice Minister of Social Development, Raúl Ramírez.
The new beneficiaries are individuals who turn 68 by July 31, having been born in 1958. The benefit corresponds to 25% of the minimum wage in effect until June 30, totaling 724,762 guaranis.
To be eligible, the elderly individuals cannot receive a public or private salary, nor be contributors to the Social Security Institute (IPS) or the National Directorate of Tax Revenue (DNIT). The benefit is also prohibited for anyone who owns more than 30 head of cattle.
Initially, payments will be made at the nearest branches of the National Development Bank (BNF), until the beneficiary receives a card for withdrawals at any ATM. The inclusion can be verified on the website listadoam.mds.gov.py or by calling (0981) 542 917.
The general minimum age for the program is 65, but new beneficiaries are added gradually, starting with the oldest. Indigenous people aged 55 and over and people with disabilities aged 60 and over have direct access, without the age-based gradual inclusion.

A later breakdown from the Ministry of Social Development, reported by Itapúa Noticias, explains the difference between the figures. It lists 3,996 newly eligible beneficiaries — 2,858 people aged 68, 643 aged 69 or older, 352 Indigenous people, 109 people with disabilities and 34 foreign residents — plus 436 reinstatements. Together, the two categories amount to 4,432 additions to the universal pension for older adults.
The ministry said the new beneficiaries would receive payments from July 27 at branches of the National Development Bank. The program's overall beneficiary total would reach 376,442.
